Acid Proof Bricks Price and Sizes

The price of acid proof bricks depends mainly on the thickness, the quantity and whether you need the bricks alone or a complete lining. Our standard sizes are 230 x 114 x 38 mm and 230 x 114 x 75 mm. Laid flat with 4 mm joints, one square metre takes about 36 bricks. Standard Sizes of Acid Proof Bricks

Size (mm)Typical use
230 x 114 x 38Chemical process floors, drains, trenches, medium size vessels, towers and pits
230 x 114 x 75Large reaction vessels, RCC tanks, chimneys, lagoons, sulphur melting pits, galvanising and pickling tanks
40 mm and thickerMade to order for heavier duty
Special shapesWedges and radial bricks for curved vessels, arranged on larger or regular orders

How Many Acid Proof Bricks per Square Metre?

Laid flat, each brick covers its 230 x 114 mm face plus the joint around it. That gives the following quantities for one course:

Joint widthBricks per m² (one course)
2 mmabout 37
4 mmabout 36
6 mmabout 35

The count is the same for 38 mm and 75 mm bricks because the face size is the same. A two course lining needs twice the number. Add an allowance for cutting at corners, kerbs, coves and nozzles, which depends on the layout. Send us the drawing and we will work out the exact quantity.

What Decides the Price of Acid Proof Bricks

  • Thickness. A 75 mm brick contains roughly twice the material of a 38 mm brick.
  • Quantity. Larger and regular orders are priced better per brick.
  • Special shapes and sizes. Wedges, radial bricks and non-standard thicknesses are made to order.
  • Delivery location. Freight within India, or packing and shipping for export.
  • Mortar. Furane, phenolic, CNSL, potassium silicate and epoxy mortars differ in cost, and the quantity depends on the joint width and the area.
  • Supply only or turnkey. A complete lining adds surface preparation, membrane, labour and curing at site.

Comparing Quotations

Per piece prices for acid resistant bricks vary widely between suppliers. Before comparing rates, check that each quote is for bricks to IS 4860 Class I, with water absorption of 2% maximum and compressive strength of at least 700 kg/cm². A cheaper, more porous brick costs far more once a lining fails and the plant has to shut down for relining.

Price and Sizes: Frequently Asked Questions

Standard 230 x 114 mm acid proof bricks laid flat need about 36 bricks per square metre with 4 mm joints, about 37 with 2 mm joints and about 35 with 6 mm joints, for one course. Add an allowance for cutting, and double the figure for a two course lining.

The price depends on the thickness, quantity, any special shapes, the delivery location and whether you need supply only or a complete lining. Kothari Corrosion Controllers quotes on request: call +91 9825006626 or email info@acidproof.com with the size, quantity and location.

The standard sizes are 230 x 114 x 38 mm and 230 x 114 x 75 mm. Bricks of 40 mm and thicker, and special shapes for curved vessels, are made to order.

Not exactly, but the 75 mm brick contains roughly twice the material, so it costs considerably more per piece. The number of bricks per square metre is the same for both thicknesses.
